Why should you test products with us? Main methods of non-destructive testingVisual method is classified as a method for the purpose of exposing surface defects of materials (especially with welds, products, castings and forged pieces). Visual inspection is considered the cheapest identification of critical spots – surface non-integrities (cracks, corrosion, porosity, exposed shrink holes and other defects). The visual method mostly precedes another non-destructive method (PT, UT, MT, RT).
Capillary method is perceived as a method of exposing surface defects of material (especially with welds, products, castings and forged pieces). Principles of the method are clear from its title - capillary action. On the basis of capillarity and wettability of penetrant (indicator of defects on the material surface) their colour difference from the basic material is used as the main identifier of the surface defect. The capillary method precedes other volumetric NDT methods (UT, RT).
Eddy current method is a surface method for the purposes of testing electrically conductive materials. The eddy current method is most often used for exposing surface defects, it is however possible to identify also defects with the maximum depth of 10 – 25 mm on the outside of the material (depth depends on the kind of material).
Ultrasound method is a volumetric non-destructive method used for identification of defects on the outside of the material, and used for identification of defects on the outside of the material, this methods allows to expose defects on the outside of metal and non-metal materials. Main types of checked products are especially metallurgical semi-finished products, castings, forged pieces, workpieces or weldments. The ultrasound method is focused not only on the identification of volumetric inner defects of material, surface defects of the type of cracks or duplications and also on the detection of the thickness of material (plates, tubes).
Defectoscopy - inspection of material, parts, weldments consisting of several non-destructive methods (VT, PT, UT), which are suitably chosen to carry out an optimum analysis of the tested article. The non-destructive methods are performed by qualified staff within the 2nd stage on the basis of existing standards (for instance VT - EN 473).
Measuring the material thickness – measuring the thickness of walls of pipes, pressure vessels, steel structures by means of the ultrasound method (material thickness steel/cast iron 0.75mm - 300 mm).
Identification of defects – the main purpose of performing non-destructive testing is identification of whether a product or equipment does not exhibit a defect preventing its use in relation to normative standards. Within the defect identification it is necessary to specify its character and subsequently establish its location in connection with its subsequent repair.

Products and services are Certified for Fire Safety with the purpose of confirming their compliance with Fire Safety requirements in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. A Fire Safety Certificate is an integral part of Certificate of Compliance with Gost R Certificate of Conformity. A Certification procedure is determined by the State Fire Safety Service upon consultation with the RF Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Certification.
The Fire Safety Certificate is required for products indicate that they are Fire Resistant or Fire Retardant. If products do not indicate that they are Fire Resistant or Fire Retardant than Certification is probably not necessary.

A Fire Safety Certificate is a document issued by a Fire Safety certification body accredited by Ministry of Emergency. It verifies that the equipment is compliant with Russian Fire Technical Regulation. A Fire Safety certificate could be issued based on sample(s) testing at an accredited Fire Testing Lab or a Factory Inspection Visit done by Fire Safety experts. There are three types of Fire Safety Certificates: a "Batch" certificate which is valid for a certain batch of goods supplied under a specific contract only; "Type" 1-year certificate, and "Type" 3 to 5-year certificate.
Fire Safety certification procedures in general are very similar to GOST R certification, and also imply reviewing documentation, sample testing, and inspection visits. DCS & their Russian Federation Partner can advise on the applicable requirements based on the nature and scope of the equipment.
The list of devices and equipment subject to Fire Safety certification is defined by Government Decree No 241 of March 17, 2009. Simply put, all the goods could be divided into four categories. The first one comprises firefighting, detection and control equipment. The second one deals with Electrical appliances (including almost all types of cables and circuit breakers). Materials (PVC sheets, decoration panels, heat insulation materials) belong to the third category. Finally, elements for construction (cable transits, fire dampers, cable channels and conduits, etc.) comprise the fourth category.
A Fire Safety Certificate may sometimes be required at the Customs Office, along with a GOST R certificate. The list of goods for which a Fire Certificate is required at the Customs Office is defined by Government Decree No 140 of March 17, 2010. It includes all the goods of category one, as well as fire dampers, ventilation channels, cable channels, conduits and the like. For all the goods listed in Decree No 241, a Fire Certificate is required only if engaged in operations in Russia. In some unclear cases, a Fire Safety Letter of Exemption could be issued.
